Gerard Richter is a German painter whose work utilizes a unique paint smearing technique, combining industrial plate and rubber-like materials in a giant squeegee he called a 'Rakel' to move pigments in various levels of fluidity across a canvas. The effects are trickier to replicate than something like a computational Gaussian blur because of the inherent randomness of how paint dries across a large canvas.

This project looks to replicate this technique and empower designers and artists using digital mediums to utilize one of the more iconic painting techniques in modern art across their own work.
